# Domain

A domain bought or transferred through lemlist, to send cold emails from mailboxes that do not put your main domain at risk.

The `registrar` is the mailbox provider picked at purchase, and it cannot change: a `google` domain only gets Google Workspace mailboxes, `m365` only Microsoft 365 mailboxes, `infraforge` only SMTP mailboxes.

A domain is set up in the background after [Purchase Domain](https://developer.lemlist.com/api-reference/endpoints/domains/purchase-domain.md): its `status` goes from `ordered` to `active`, in a few minutes to a few hours (up to two days with Microsoft 365). There is no webhook: poll [List Domains](https://developer.lemlist.com/api-reference/endpoints/domains/list-domains.md).
